In-Home Alcohol Detox Since 2018

Safely Navigating Alcohol Withdrawal

We understand that taking the first step toward sobriety is daunting. However, attempting to stop drinking cold turkey or unsupervised is highly dangerous. Symptoms like anxiety, tremors, and sweating can start within 6 to 12 hours of the last drink, the risk of seizures peaks between 12 and 48 hours, and delirium tremens (DTs) can develop between 48 and 72 hours. Since 2018, Private Detox of Utah has brought medically supervised alcohol detox directly to your doorstep, so you can get through withdrawal safely in the comfort and privacy of your own home.

Your Personalized Detox Plan

Every detox starts with an in-home assessment of your drinking history, health, and withdrawal risk. Your provider uses it to build a personalized treatment plan, then checks in daily to adjust medications and care to your needs. At each visit, your provider measures your symptoms with the CIWA-Ar, a standard alcohol withdrawal scale, and can give IV fluids and vitamins such as thiamine (B1) and folic acid to support recovery.

Acute alcohol detox usually lasts 5 to 7 days. We require a support person, such as a parent, spouse, relative, or friend, to be with you through the entire detox. If the assessment shows detox at home isn't safe for you, we'll refer you to an inpatient program.

Support is Critical

Support for Families and Loved Ones

We know how exhausting and painful it is to watch a loved one struggle with alcohol addiction. You want them to get well, but navigating the medical logistics alone is overwhelming. Our team is here to support you just as much as the client. We offer the professional guidance, clinical reassurance, and emotional boundaries needed to foster a genuinely supportive home environment during this critical transition. Together, we can help them heal.

The Mind-Body Connection

When you are battling anxiety, depression, trauma, or chronic stress, substance use can feel like the only way to find temporary relief. But over time, self-medicating alters brain chemistry, trapping you in a painful cycle where mental health struggles and addiction feed into one another.

90 percent of people with a substance use disorder are not getting treatment.

“Alcohol and drug addiction take an enormous toll on individuals, families, and communities. Most Americans know someone who has been touched by an alcohol or a drug use disorder. Yet 90 percent of people with a substance use disorder are not getting treatment.”

- U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy
